Victorian Opal, Old Cut Diamond & Rose Cut Diamond Star Brooch, circa 1880
Incredible workmanship and detail on this exceptional Victorian star brooch. The six rayed star features a round cabochon opal at the centre displaying a lively play of colour, with thirty-six diamonds (eighteen old mine cuts and eighteen rose cuts) of graduating size in a fine, hand-sawn double gallery.
Cut – Round cabochon opal with old mine cut and rose cut diamonds.
Colour – The diamonds are G to I.
Clarity – VS2 to SI2; all the stone are clean to the naked eye.
Carat – The opal is approximately 2.00 carat. The total approximate diamond weight is 3.50 carat.
Circa – 1880.
Measurements – 43.6 x 44.6mm.
Metal – 18k yellow gold. Tested.
