Art Deco 1.75 Carat Emerald Cut Burmese Ruby & Diamond Ring, circa 1940
Such an exciting ring. The natural and unheated emerald cut ruby displays a deep purplish red and is set laterally in a rubover platinum setting. The ruby is cut shallow to allow plenty of light to pass through the stone, as well as giving it a generous “spread.” Forty-two eight-cut diamonds are set within the finely engraved gallery and shoulders, leading to a slim and fluted platinum shank.
Accompanied by a Ruby Report from the Gem & Pearl Laboratory (London) confirming the ruby is natural, unheated and Burmese (Myanmar) in origin.

Clarity – Visible inclusions in the ruby – to be expected of a ruby this size – but still transparent enough to allow light to travel through the stone. Diamonds are VS.

Circa – 1940.
