Art Deco 4.50 Carat Diamond & 2.60 Carat Sapphire Flower Brooch, Platinum, circa 1920
Breathtaking. This most beautiful platinum floral brooch is loaded with 86 old mine cut diamonds, with a further 7 bagutte cut diamonds forming the stem. All these stones are immaculate: colourless and internally clean. Three old cut sapphires are dotted around the flower, with the central bud comprised of one approximate 0.85 carat round stone and five 0.15 carat step cuts. All sapphires are cornflower blue, natural and unheated. One of the most spectacular pieces we’ve ever had.
Cut – Old cut diamonds, with the stem made up of baguette cuts. There are four round old cut sapphires and five square step cut sapphires
Colour – Diamonds are totally colourless; E-F.
Clarity – All stones are VS .
Carat – Total approximate diamond weight of 4.50 carat. Estimated total sapphire weight is 2.60 carat
Circa – 1920.
Condition – There looks to have been some repair work on the pins, but the main body of the piece – the part that counts! – is perfect.
Measurements – From the bottom of the stem to the top of the flower is 6cm. The brooch is 3.1cm at the widest point.
Metal – Platinum. Tested.
