Art Deco 7.78 Carat Natural Ceylon Cabochon Sapphire Ring, circa 1915
A gorgeous antique sapphire ring. The natural, unheated cabochon sapphire in the centre displays a striking light azure blue. Twenty old cut diamonds surround the centre stone, rubover and claw-set in milgrained platinum. Decorative engraving down the shoulders and gallery adds flourish to this most impressive of rings.
Accompanied by a sapphire report from The Gem & Pearl Laboratory stating the sapphire shows no indication of heating, and is Sri Lankan (Ceylon) in origin.
Cut – Oval cabochon sapphire and old mine cut diamonds.
Colour – The diamonds are H to I.
Clarity – There are some visible inclusions in the centre sapphire. The diamonds are VS2 to SI2.
Carat – The sapphire is 7.78 carat with an approximate diamond weight of 0.80 carat.
Circa – 1915.
Size – N 1/2 (UK) or 6 3/4 (US). Complimentary sizing is available, can go up or down.
Measurements – The sapphire is 12.2 x 9.8mm. The head of the ring is 18.4 x 16.2mm and sits 8.5mm from the finger.
Metal – 18k yellow gold. The diamonds are in platinum.
