Art Deco Burma Ruby & Rose Cut Diamond Pin Brooch, circa 1920
A sublime and special piece. Three lines of rose cut diamonds are “interrupted” but a pair of step-cut ruby X’s – but the heart of this pin brooch is the phenomenal, cushion shaped natural and unheated ruby. Glowingly red with distinct flashes of bright crimson, stones like this don’t come up very often.
Accompanied by a ruby report from Gemmoligical Certification Services (GCS) stating the ruby shows no indication of heating, and is Burmese (Myanmar) in origin.
Cut – The centre ruby is cushion cut. The accent rubies are square and rectangular step cuts. The diamonds are rose cuts.
Colour – The diamonds are G.
Clarity – The diamonds are VS2 to SI2; all are clean to the naked eye. The ruby is SI2.
Carat – The centre ruby is approximately 1.0o carat, with a further approximate 0.26 carat of rubies. The total approximate diamond weight is 0.38 carat.
Circa – 1920.
Measurements – The ruby is approximately 8.2 x 5.7mm. The brooch is 62.5 x 6.25mm.
Metal – Platinum. Tested.
