Art Nouveau Diamond, Ruby & Natural Pearl Brooch, circa 1890
A phenomenally beautiful Art Nouveau brooch. The striking piece features a pear rose cut diamond at the top in a cut-away settings which bisects a pair of ruby flowers. A pigeon blood red ruby sits at the heart of the piece, from with sweeping gold and silver diamonds set flowers and vines. A large, triangular shaped, closed backed rose cut diamond sits at the bottom of the main body of the brooch, with a natural baroque saltwater pearl dangling form a diamond set trefoil motif. Highly decorative and utterly stunning.
Cut – Rose cut diamonds with round rubies.
Colour – The diamonds range from I to J.
Clarity – The diamonds range from VS1 to SI1; all are clean to the naked eye.
Carat – The top diamond is approximately 0.50 carat, the triangular diamond is approximately 0.75 carat, with a further 0.50 carat across the rest of the brooch. The total approximate ruby weight is 0.50 carat
Circa – 1890.
Measurements – From top to the bottom of the pearl is 60.6mm. The brooch is 35.3mm at the widest point.
Metal – 18k gold & silver. Tested.
