Mid Century 1.50 Carat Black Opal & 0.91 Carat Diamond Drop Earrings, circa 1960
A stunning pair of black opal earrings. Each earring is topped by transitional cut diamond in a four claw collet, linked to a small oval shaped black opal, to a rubover set old mine cut diamond, to a larger black opal. Although both of the larger opal have matching black background colour and incredible plays of colour, the pattern on each slightly varies; one presents broader, ribbon-style flashes colour; the other more of a “pin-fire” effect. A wonderful and dramatic pair of earrings.
