Mid Century 13.50 Carat Ceylon Yellow Sapphire Cocktail Ring, circa 1960
Jewellery doesn’t come much more daring than this. The yellow sapphire in the centre – certified as natural, unheated and originating from Ceylon (Sri Lanka) – displays a bright, golden yellow. The stone is secured in a yellow gold rubover setting that rests within a wonderfully ornate surround. Twenty-six eight-cut diamonds in the gallery, plus a further ten (five each side) baguette cuts in the shoulders are “bound” together with rope detailing, leading to wire and rope detailed shank.
Accompanied by a sapphire report from Gemmological Certification Services (GCS) stating the sapphire shows no indication of heating, and is Sri Lankan (Ceylon) in origin.
