Mid Century 2.53 Carat Old Cut Diamond “Bubbles” Ring, circa 1950

Wow! This is serious bling. The central diamond is a light yellow cushion shaped old mine cut, the hue of which is emphasised by the colourlessness of the 34 diamonds in the setting. 22 (11 each side) eight cut diamonds are grain and claw set in the band, with twelve brilliant cut diamond “bubbles” set within the fine gold lattice work between. Delicately and intricately made, but packing a very sparkly punch.

Cut – The centre diamonds is a cushion shaped old mine / miner cut. The “floating” diamonds are round brilliants, and the diamonds running along the edge are eight cuts.

Colour – The centre diamonds is light yellow. The other diamonds are G.

Clarity – All the stones are very clean; VS1 to VS2.

Carat – The centre diamond 1.27 carat, with an estimated 1.26 carat across the rest.

Circa – 1950.

Measurements – The central diamond is 6.7mm by 6.5mm. The ring is 5.2mm at the base, graduating to 12.8mm at the widest point.

Metal – 18k yellow gold. Tested.
