Mid Century 6.96 Carat Natural Ceylon Sapphire & Diamond Cluster Ring, circa 1960
A glorious cornflower blue natural and unheated sapphire from Ceylon. The glowing stone is secured in yellow gold milgrained rubover setting, with twenty eight-cut diamonds rubover set in the surround. Fine keyhole-shaped detailing in the under-gallery leads to a slim white gold shank.
Accompanied by a sapphire report from Gemmoligical Certification Services (GCS) stating the sapphire shows no indication of heating, and is Sri Lankan (Ceylon) in origin.
Cut – Oval cut sapphire. The diamonds are eight-cuts.
Colour – The diamonds are H to I.
Clarity – The sapphire is SI. The diamonds are SI1 to SI2 (eye clean).
Carat – The sapphire is a known 6.96 carat. The total approximate diamond weight is 0.40 carat.
Circa – 1960.
Size – O 1/2 (UK) or 7.25 (US). Complimentary sizing is available, can go up or down.
Measurements – The sapphire is 13.69 x 8.3. The head of the ring is 19.4 x 15mm. Sits 7.1mm from the finger.
Metal – Stamped 750 – 18k white and yellow gold – and tests as such.
