Mid Century 8.67 Carat Black Opal Solitaire Ring, French, circa 1965
A stunning natural black opal takes centre stage in this wonderfully individual ring. The large cabochon opal has a rich, black base colour and shows good play of colour. The simple four claw collet sits on a diagonal within a dramatically sweeping white gold shank, set with six (three each side) transitional cut diamonds in the shoulders.
Accompanied by a report from Gemmological Certification Services (GCS) stating the opal shows no indication treatment.
Cut – Oval cabochon opal and transitional cut diamonds.
Colour – Diamonds are H to I.
Clarity – Diamonds are SI1 to SI2; all are clean to the naked eye.
Carat – The opal is 8.67 carat. The total approximate diamond weight is 0.09 carat.
Circa – 1965.
