Mid Century Black, Grey & Green Opal Butterfly Brooch, circa 1950
A piece that is as much a work of art as it is an item of jewellery. The butterfly’s wings are formed by four large black opals, with a small green opal representing the bottom half on the body and a larger milk opal as the top half. Four brilliant cut diamonds decorate the corners of the wings. Wonderfully elaborate.
Fine milgraining on the gold outlines the piece. The wings are backed in silver.
Measures 42mm by 30mm.
