Retro 4.85 Carat Natural Ceylon Sapphire & 1.68 Carat Diamond Ring, circa 1955
An extraordinary natural sapphire and diamond ring. The natural and unheated Ceylon sapphire is a lively, light cornflower blue and sits at the centre of the most wonderfully flamboyant cluster. Six large rubover set round brilliant cut diamonds “float” at the edges, with a further six smaller brilliant cuts between them. A finely carved scrolling under-gallery leads to a tapering rose gold shank. Arresting and bold.
Accompanied by a sapphire report from The Gem & Pearl Laboratory stating the sapphire shows no indication of heating, and is Sri Lankan (Ceylon) in origin.
