Retro 7.71 Carat Natural Ceylon Yellow Sapphire & Old Cut Diamond Ring, circa 1945
An exceptional piece of jewellery. The natural and unheated Ceylon sapphire displays a bright, golden yellow. Rubover and milgrain set in yellow gold, the sapphire is surrounded by fourteen high white old cut diamonds, each with an approximate weight of 0.20 carat. The beautifully detailed under-gallery leads to a tri-split shoulders with a diamond set centre leaf to a chunky platinum shank. Majestic.
Accompanied by a sapphire report from Gemmoligical Certification Services (GCS) stating the sapphire shows no indication of heating, and is Sri Lankan (Ceylon) in origin.
Cut – Oval cut sapphire and old mine cut diamonds.
Colour – The diamonds are G
Clarity – The sapphire is clean to the naked eye. The diamonds are VS1 to SI1.
Carat – The sapphire is a known 7.71 carat. The total approximate diamond weight is 2.80 carat
Circa – 1945.
Size – M 1/2 (UK) or 6.25 (US). Complimentary sizing is available, can go up or down.
Measurements – The sapphire is 13.7 x 10.6mm. The head of the ring is 21.4 x 19.3mm and sits 7.7mm from the finger.
Metal – Platinum. The sapphire is set in 18k yellow gold. Tested.
