Victorian 4.68 Carat Ceylon Purple Star Sapphire & Diamond Ring, circa 1890

A magnificent and unique ring. The natural Ceylon purple star sapphire in the centre – certified as having received no treatment – is a glowing pinkish purple and displays a clear white asterism. The stone is surround by ten high white and clean old mine cut diamonds, each secured in individual silver rubover settings in a loosely marquise shaped arrangement, leading to a fluted yellow gold shank set with a further four (two each side) diamonds. Beautiful and wholly individual.
Accompanied by a sapphire report from Gemmological Certification Services (GCS) stating the sapphire shows no indication of heating, and is Sri Lankan (Ceylon) in origin.
Cut – Oval cabochon sapphire an old mine cut diamonds.
Colour – The diamonds are G to H.
Clarity – The diamonds are VS1 to VS2.
Carat – The sapphire is 4.68 carat. The total approximate diamond weight is 0.78 carat.
Circa – 1890.
Size – R (UK) or 8 5/8 (US). Complimentary sizing is available, can go up or down.
Measurements – The sapphire is 9.67 x 7.82mm. The head of the ring is 22.35 x 14.25mm and sits 9.7mm from the finger.
Metal – 18k yellow gold. The diamonds are set in silver. Tested.
