Victorian Sapphire, Diamond & Pearl Brooch, circa 1900
An immensely pretty brooch. Centred by a deep, royal blue sapphire. Four old cut diamonds and eight pearls sit in geometric formation around the sapphire, with twenty-eight rose cuts set at the edges and between the row of gems in the centre. Set in silver, with a very fine hooped gallery and secured by a trombone clasp.
Cut – Round faceted sapphire. The diamonds are old mine cuts and rose cuts.
Colour – Diamonds are H to I.
Clarity – The sapphire is clean to the naked eye. The diamonds range from VS2 to SI1.
Carat – The sapphire is approximately 0.40 carat. The total approximate diamond weight is 1.58 carat.
Circa – 1900.
Measurements – 40.35 x 16.4mm.
Metal – 14k yellow gold and silver. The diamonds are in platinum.
