Art Deco 2.60 Carat Natural Ceylon Sapphire & Diamond Ring, circa 1940
An extraordinary sapphire in an extraordinary ring. The cushion cut sapphire in the centre – certified as natural, unheated and originating from Ceylon (Sri Lanka) – displays a slight colour change from purple in incandescent light to blue in daylight. The sapphire is flanked by a pair of old European cut diamonds in box-settings, within an ornately pierced and milgrained gallery, to a flat white gold shank.
Accompanied by a report from Gemmological Certification Services (GCS) stating the sapphire shows no indication of heating, and is Sri Lankan (Ceylon) in origin.
Cut – Cushion cut sapphire in the centre and old European cut diamonds either side.
Colour – The diamonds are I to J.
Clarity – The sapphire is eye clean. The diamonds are SI2.
Carat – The sapphire is approximately 2.60 carat. The total approximate diamond weight is 0.40 carat.
Circa – 1940.
Size – L 1/2 (UK) or 5 7/8 (US). Complimentary sizing is available, can go up or down.
Measurements – The sapphire is approximately 8.3 x 6.6mm. The ring is 11.2mm at the widest point and sits 6.6mm from the finger.
Metal – 18k white gold. Tested.
