Art Deco 8.90 Carat Natural Ceylon Sapphire Ring, circa 1920
Spectacular in every way. The natural and unheated Ceylon sapphire displays a clear colour change; blue in daylight, purple under incandescent light. This exceptional and rare stone is showcased in a mount of suitable quality with seventy-eight old cut and eight cut diamonds pavé set in a pierced platinum setting, leading to a slim D-shaped shank. An immense and important piece.
Accompanied by a sapphire report from Gemmoligical Certification Services (GCS) stating the sapphire shows no indication of heating, and is Sri Lankan (Ceylon) in origin.
Cut – Emerald cut sapphire. The larger of the diamonds are old cuts; the smaller are eight-cuts.
Colour – The diamonds are F to G.
Clarity – The sapphire is eye clean. The diamonds are VS1 to VS2.
Carat – The sapphire is approximately 8.90 carat. The total approximate diamond weight is 1.64 carat.
Circa – 1920.
