Mid Century 3.37 Carat Natural Sapphire Cocktail Ring, circa 1955
A fabulously inventive vintage sapphire ring. Adapted from a cocktail watch (not by us) the watch face has been replaced by a natural, unheated sapphire which displays a bright, vivid blue. The stone is rubover set in platinum with navy blue enamelling at the north and south of the centre stone. Twenty-two high white and bright eight-cut diamonds are box and milgrain set around the sapphire with fine engraved detailing at the outside edge of the head of the ring. Dramatically split shoulders – set with two further diamonds each side – leads to a slim, double shank.
Accompanied by a sapphire report from Gemmological Certification Services (GCS) stating the sapphire shows no indication of heating, and is Madagascan in origin.
Cut – Oval cut sapphires and eight-cut diamonds.
