Victorian Old Cut Quartz & Diamond Brooch, circa 1870
A classy and elegant Victorian brooch. The centre stone – clear quartz – is cut like a large, cushion shaped old mine cut diamond. The centre stone is rubover set in milgrained silver, with four (real!) old mine cut diamonds rubover set at each “corner” of the stone. A pair of larger diamonds, in silver daisy settings, accent the top and bottom of the quartz. On a tri-split bar with two further daisy set diamonds at each end.
Cut – Old cut quartz with old mine cut diamonds in the surround.
Colour – The quartz is clear. The diamonds are G to H.
Clarity – The quartz is pure and internally clean. The diamonds are VS1 to VS2.
Carat – The quartz is conservatively gauged at 10.00 carat, with a total approximate diamond weight of 0.60 carat.
Circa – 1870.
Measurements – The quartz is approximately 14.5 x 12.9mm. The overall dimensions of the brooch are approximately 38.75 x 26.5mm.
Metal – Silver and 9k yellow gold. Tested.
